Visit by freezone delegation for World Halal Conference ‘resulted in a number of investment opportunities’.

Dubai: Dubai Airport Freezone (Dafza) Director General, Mohammad Al Zarouni, has met with Malaysia’s Minister of Trade and Industry, Mustapa Mohammad, in Malaysia, according to an emailed Dafza statement on Sunday.

The two discussed ways to “develop and strengthen economic and trade ties” between the South East Asian country and Dafza, the statement said.

The meeting took place as Al Zarouni led a Dafza delegation to Malaysia, the statement said without stating when the two officials met.

The delegation’s visit “resulted in a number of investment opportunities” for Dafza, according to the statement.

“Dafza is keen on building a strong relationship with the Malaysian business and investment community,” Al Zarouni said in the statement.

The delegation also attended the 2016 World Halal Conference (WHC) that took place in Kuala Lumpur on March 30 and March 31 and the 13th Malaysia International Halal Showcase (Mihas), which was held in the Malaysian capital from March 30 to April 2.

“The business mission had a major positive impact on reviewing the most successful experiences and best practices related to halal industries and its aspirations to study the future of this vital sector,” Al Zarouni said.

Dafza recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Malaysia’s Halal Industry Development Corp (HDC).
